What Is The Best Security System For Your Home

Why do you want to have a home security system installed in your home, maybe you want to protect your family, the contents of your home or you may just want the peace of mind that when you are asleep or away from home you are protecting your home from any unwanted predators. There have been many methods that people use to achieve this, ranging from dogs to barbed wire fencing. However in the modern day it is not necessary to use these methods when you will find choosing a home security system a much more simplified process. Let's break down the best way to choose the correct system for your home there are a number of factors that can influence your decision. Firstly you need to do a complete survey of your home, work out how many external facing doors and windows you need to protect from any unwanted intruder. Next you need to assess where in the home you would want the control unit. The majority of people would have the control unit near to the front door, this enables the user to quickly activate the security system when leaving the home and de-activate the alarm system when returning back to the home. There are lots of different products when you are choosing a home security system that are on the market now, some are the more traditional wired solutions and others are more modern day wireless versions. Depending on your budget and size of the property may influence the decision on which would be most suitable for you. A wireless system will require sensors to be placed throughout the house and is easier to install in a house that is already built, where as with a newly constructed house a hard wired security system will be easier to install. When you are choosing your home security system make sure you think carefully about your family. Some of the systems will allow you to activate them whilst in your home and asleep, however you could be in for some restless nights sleep if you do not think about what could activate the security system, some examples you may wish to consider include pets, sleep walkers, family members coming in late at night, early risers to work, these are just a few of many factors that you should consider. If you have neighbors that you trust and they already have a home security system in place then talk to them about their provider, whether they were happy with the installation process, the pricing of the system, whether it has been effective and whether they have had any problems. You will need to speak with a reputable home security adviser when choosing your home security system, be sure to see a number of different advisers and whilst talking with them have your important factors written down so you can ask the right questions to get a good idea that the home security system is right for you. Make sure that the system is user friendly and intuitive and covers all of the key requirements. http://www.sunsecurity.com

How To Detect Water Leaks

Rapid world population growth and lifestyle change contributes to the increased demand for water by mankind. Additionally, low level rainfall in some parts of the world, slowed the replenishment of water supply. Therefore, each one of us should make our best efforts in the conservation of one the most precious commodity here on our planet, which is water. One such effort is to watch out for water leaks in our homes, no matter how small those leaks might be. 1. Water Leak Detection Although some water leaks are so slow that they are not detectable, some known leaks are being ignored by some homeowners. This is due to ignorance to the fact that small leaks that keeps on leaking would sum up into thousands of gallons in a year. Imagine if all homeowners will have the same attitude? Moreover, water leaks not only contribute to worldwide water shortage, but also cause damage to some parts of the house's structure. Damages to the house structural elements could cause the house to deteriorate faster, collapse, and injuries to its occupants. Water leak detection can either be done by periodically checking the areas and components of the house's plumbing system or by installing a commercially available water leak detection device. 2. Passive Leak Detection System Usually stand-alone battery-operated devices that produce alarm sound when its moisture sensor becomes wet, these alarms enable the homeowner to locate exactly where the water leaks are and do the necessary repairs. Since these are battery-dependent devices, its battery should be checked regularly. 3. Active Leak Detection Systems These also sound an alarm when it detect water leaks, and will automatically stop the water flow. It may use a moisture sensor or a flow sensor in monitoring any water leaks. There are two types of active leak detection systems: a. Individual appliance systems These monitor leaks from a single appliance and automatically shut off water supplies to such appliances should leaks be detected b. Whole house systems These monitor leaks in the whole house and shut off the main water supply to the house should leaks be detected. 4. Places To Check For Water Leaks: - Bathroom & toilet area (check for leaks on showerhead, faucet, and water heating system) - Kitchen (check for leaks on faucet, dishwasher, water heating system) - Laundry room (check for leaks on faucet, clothes washer) - Garage and basement area (check on evaporator cooler, hot water system) - Lawn (check on turf, low water use garden, irrigation system) - Pool and spa - Patio - Water meter 5. Monitoring Water Leaks: - Your toilet is making sounds when nobody is near? - Is your toilet flushing itself when nobody is near? - Place food coloring in the tank. Do you see any in the bowl? - Do you see any discoloration in your walls, floors, ceilings, etc? - Monitor your water bill. Do you have a higher bill this month with about the same consumption? Water leaks only worsen through time; it would be wise for you to deal with it as early as possible. Early detection and repair shall save you money and prevent damage to your house. If you ignore it, you are only postponing something you should do anyway. For more great water leak related articles and resources check out http://www.leakhub.com

The Inner Queen

Looking through your eyes A queen was born In a crystal room Under the wing Of a butterfly In an imaginary Place For the humans Those who believe That "matter" is the Only Place It Come and go The scent of your soul Around a marble stone Where your name Engraved forever Just as our song Engraved in the mind Repeating itself Over and over Loving you Can not be But More And more A queen was born So close So far And nowhere But Within my soul Altawell 4 March 2008 Altawell 2008 In this world we born and die in a flash of time as we compare our lives span within the geological time of the earth itself, the lifespan of our solar system or even to a much bigger scale, to our local universe. Comparisons like these put us in a picture where the difference between the birth and the death of the smallest biological creation and a human being is nothing but part of the same process, and the difference between the two lives as they stand in the ladder of evolution become blurred, as each contribute to the life and evolution of the other, on visible and none-visible scale. To be born as a queen or as a king is the title which every baby born to this world deserves to have. To die as a queen or as a king, is the title for every human being leaving this world, even if their contributions during their lifetime may seem negative or even very dark. This may sound a very strange or "to some" even "very weird", but if we are aware of the magnificent steps and high contribution each individual make during their lifetime to the advancement of humanity, all of us will show nothing but love, respect, support and admirations to every other human being on this planet. You may ask and wonder how on earth we give love, respect to those who commit crimes against their fellow human beings? We live in a world with two opposite sides, where the positive and the negative can not exist without the other. The process in itself may even sound very odd indeed, especially when we realise that the negative factor(s), in certain ways, actually contribute in strengthening the positive side via the experiences we go through when we find ourselves on the negative side. That means if there are no negative experiences, there will be no cause to change our ways for the better. In a similar way, just as we can say that there will be no light if there was no darkness, or we will not know what is light if we never experience darkness. Therefore, knowing understanding and consequently evolving can only happen when the two opposite factors exist and working on the same level, the level where we are now at the present time. We need to experience and understand both in order to be able to evolve higher, to the level of kings (or queens) where we originally come from.

Home Improvement - A Picture Is Worth A Thousand or More Dollars

Have you ever had the experience of working with a contractor on a remodeling or building project and been disappointed with the result. Many people have. But this problem is avoidable. One of the most important things to know about contractors is that they are usually visual/spatial thinkers. They are good at interpreting drawings, but not great at interpreting verbal data. But think. How good are you at listening? It's too imprecise and open to interpretation. You can talk to someone all day long, but they may not get what you want them to do. I once refaced a kitchen over a weekend. A cabinetmaker made my doors without ever setting foot in the kitchen. We measured and drew out every door and run of cabinetry. He worked from our picture and the work was perfect. Everything went in exactly as we hoped and planned. I never even met him but he did a great job. What made it work was the picture. Talking to him would not have worked nearly as well. The pictures really were worth a thousand words and saved us big time and money. He knew exactly what I wanted and had a convenient diagram to help him with all of the details. So quit talking and start measuring and drawing. Great thinking and planning for a job will save you time and money before any work begins. Once you have the plan on paper don't change ANYTHING. Little changes you make delay the work and cost you more money. Planning and deciding things before work starts is important in controlling costs. Oh, if you're doing some work yourself even if it's only buying new furniture, draw yourself a picture. That way you know the maximum furniture size for the space. You might even consider taping the layout to the floor. It's a great visual tool. So just decide, DRAW A PICTURE, and don't second-guess yourself. It will work a lot better. If you can't draw find someone who can. Lots of people can do it. It's more about measurements and less about art. A quadrille pad of paper can help. It has grid lines that can help you make a scale drawing. You'll find it helps you get what you want and control the costs. Paula Stone is a black belt home remodeler and former Realtor. Solar-Powered Landscape Lighting the Alternative Energy Option

You can be sure that solar powered landscape lighting can make all the difference to your landscape whether you use solar floodlights, solar garden lights, or security lights for your garden or driveway. Imagine those long evenings in the summer season when you spend most of your time on your patio or backyard. You probably plan to have your friends over for a cookout or for a barbecue party. To make your evenings a success, you must make sure that you have adequate lighting installed. Landscape lighting, to be properly done, needs to consider some points. Your guests and you will need enough light so that you can either laze around on your patio comfortably or walk around your property safely. The lighting must complement your property and enhance its looks. Of course, you want something that does not cut too deep into your budget. Preferably, it should be an energy efficient option. What have you got, then? You can turn to solar powered landscape lighting! Apart from meeting all the criteria listed, you have the additional advantage of not having to mess around with wires, because the system is wireless and easy to install. Lets look at some specific benefits of solar lighting: We already know they are energy efficient. Added to this, the suns energy is free for you to harness. While saving on your energy bills, you are being environmentally friendly, conserving the earth resources You will take something like an hour, at most, to set up your solar garden lights. You have decided to get some durable stainless steel garden solar lights. Because there is no wiring you can locate them just about anywhere. You just need to stake them into the ground and that is it. You can easily make additions. During the holidays, you can add to your landscape lighting by getting solar Christmas lights and you do not have to make any additional arrangements to install them, so long as your source of light is positioned right. With all their benefits, solar powered lights can also look great with the variety of designs available. How the concept of solar lighting works Basically, the source of energy is the sun, which is freely available. For the illumination, you can use LED lamps, which are long lasting. The solar panels that convert the sun energy are composed of photocells, which charge the solar battery for landscape lights. So the most important part of setting up solar lighting is to place the solar panels in a position that receives the maximum sunlight. Generally, the rechargeable batteries can last approximately eight to ten hours of continuous use. The built in sensors in these solar lights can turn the lamps on and off automatically. Using solar-powered landscape lighting You can start by marking the right places in your backyard or garden to see where you would like to position your lights. You might want to go in for different lights to light up your barbecue grill area, your outdoor cooking equipment, your pathways, your flowerbeds, and any other special feature that you have on your property. If you have a woodstove, gas fireplace or a woodburning fireplace, you might want to illuminate this area as well, regardless of whether you are using the heat source. You do not want anyone bumping into it in inadequate lighting when all they want to do is enjoy the smoky flavor of what is cooking as they stroll around your garden. You can also use floodlights focused on your cooking equipment or bbq and if you are using your cookbook for your favorite recipes, you want that well lit, too.
